When I hear this statement, I think of ethical concerns. Of not violating my own moral code.
Apparently, when technicians hear this statement they think of cleaning the restroom, emptying the garbage, and data entry.
Our chain's mantra is "teamwork teamwork teamwork". I like teamwork! It does have its shortcomings, though.
My technicians and even their leader, the tech trainer, preaches at me that I make the big bucks, so therefore I should be able to do their jobs and my jobs, because "its all about teamwork".
Which I counter with, "but I don't ask any of you to check prescriptions or counsel patients, or make determinations on drug interactions. I am the pharmacist, and you do the technical work, because you are technicians."
Its like talking to a plant... they refuse delivery on the facts presented.
I'm getting really tired of this argument. Mostly, because in the current state of declining payroll dollars, I am somehow expected to do all my jobs, their jobs, ensure accuracy & safety, all in under 15 minutes!
Getting really tired of defending my position here. I'm not trying to insult any subordinate, I'm trying to tell you that I have a professional duty to uphold and that trumps taking out the garbage.
If you disagree, that's fine... how about you come in tomorrow and do my job, I'm taking the day off. You're in charge!

I guess your technicians didn't get the memo that people are easily replaced in this job market. Now is not the time to be arguing with a supervisor that THEY need to take out the garbage.
As a technician, while I appreciate it when the pharmacist helps with my duties, it is my job to assist them. I'll get upset if a pharmacist won't help fill RXs when we are busy but other stuff like chores/cleaning is my job. If your staff is ganging up that its not, it is time to cut hours.
